One year on.

It has been over a year since we moved to Saltash from Crediton where I served the Methodist Church as minister. This has been a very successful move, it is a lovely area and the majority of people are friendly. (There is always at least one or two miseries wherever we live.) Settlling in was easy, the town is nearby where you can buy just about anything and there is a good bus service. I drive at present but it obviously will stop one day.

There is a lot going on, many groups to chose from and lots o choirs. I can’t sing well now but appreciate others singing. I run Monday Moments every week at Oaklands C C, mainly ladies join me for a cup of tea and a chat, a few of us do our crafts. It’s very enjoyable, noisy at times as we all enjoy each others company.

Saltash Wesley M C has become my home church and I’ve been made very welcome there. The Sunday morning worship is usually enjoyable as is the coffee and chat afterwards. I no longer preach and lead worship as not reliable enough. It takes me ages to get round first thing so struggling to drive to some local churches I too much for me.

Methodist Women in Britain (M W I B)

This has become my priority as I fully appreciate the way that difficult issues are tackled such as the Thursday in Black campaign which has been very successful in fighting for women rights regarding domestic violence.

I arranged the Spring District Day locally which was well attended. Recently I presented a more informal day for the circuit ladies. Informal meant that there was more participation I e praying in colour. My friend Louise and I will arrange for a Christmas Craft session soon. It would be good if more ladies joined us, perhaps over time they will. Meanwhile we will keep flying the flag.
